Frequently asked questions
What does an AntMaster anthill kit include?
At minimum, the module (anthill) with an antifungal plaster interior, a foraging area, connectors, stoppers and anti-vibration soft pads. The M and L kits add an external water feeder and, in some cases, Antdew nectar. The exact contents of each kit are listed on its product page.
What is the smallest kit for starting a colony?
The Terra V2 Starter Kit, at 16 × 5 × 3 cm. It's designed for a single queen or a newly founded microcolony, not for already large colonies.
What size do I need once the colony has grown?
The M and L kits (Terra M V2 and Terra L V2), at 22 × 11 cm, give you more room before you need to expand the installation.
Can the kits be expanded later on?
Yes. Terra modules connect with screws, so you can add new modules, foraging areas or accessories without replacing the starter kit.
Is there a vertical option to save table space?
Yes, the Terra M Vertical Kit and the Terra L Vertical Kit separate the nest from the foraging area vertically, taking up less horizontal space.
Is a kit better than assembling the installation piece by piece?
A kit saves you from figuring out which parts go together: it's already calculated for that specific module. If you'd rather choose each component separately, you can browse the individual modules in Anthills and the accessories in Accessories. And if it's your first colony, Difficulty levels for keeping ants has a guide to choosing a species and kit based on your experience.
