The collection currently brings together 14 models across two ranges: 10 in the Terra range, with an antifungal plaster interior, and 4 in the 3D range, with a printed interior sculpted in volume. Both ranges are modular and use the same leak-proof connections, so you can combine them within the same setup. Formats run from the 5 × 9 cm Terra Starter or Starter 3D, designed for foundations and queens, to the 23 × 23 cm Terra XL and XL 3D, for large, already-established colonies. They all share a matte PLA structure with high-transparency acrylic. The Terra range also includes evaporation, vertical, high-humidity and dry variants, to suit the species and the stage of the colony. As your colony grows, you can expand it by connecting a Terra M V2 module or a larger one, without having to move the ants to a new anthill.

How to choose your anthill

• By colony size. For a queen or a foundation: Terra Starter V2 (€17.99) or Starter 3D (€12.99), 5 × 9 cm, or the TerraStart evaporation anthill (€15.99). Once you have the first few dozen workers: Terra M V2 (€25.99) or M 3D (€23.99), 11 × 11 cm. For established colonies: the 22 × 11 cm L models (Terra L V2, €53.99; L 3D, €49.99) and the 23 × 23 cm XL models (Terra XL V2, €110.99; XL 3D, €99.99). • By humidity. The Terra range uses antifungal plaster with a water tower (dual in the Terra L V2 and Terra XL V2), which spreads humidity slowly and keeps it stable. It's the option for species that need high humidity. The Terra M Evaporation (€36.99) has a 20 ml reservoir and a drinking point with a mesh. The Dry models (M Dry, €20.99; L Dry, €51.99) have no built-in humidity and are for species that prefer dry conditions. The 3D range uses the same water tower, but without plaster, so humidity changes faster. The L and XL also have a dual system. More detail in which humidity system to choose.
• By modularity and space. Terra and 3D join with the same leak-proof screw system, so you can expand without moving the colony. The M3 Allen key is included with your first order. If you're short on table space, the Terra M Vertical (€35.99) and the L Vertical (€65.99) take up less surface area.
• Single module or kit. If you're starting from scratch: 3D Starter Kit (€19.99), Terra V2 Starter Kit (€26.99) or Terra M V2 Kit (€64.99).

Frequently asked questions about buying an anthill

Can I buy an anthill with ants?

Yes. Add a native colony or queen from Free ants to your order: it costs €0 and you only pay for shipping, which is free on the Spanish mainland from €75 (one colony per order; we don't ship live animals to the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla). If you want the complete setup, see the anthill kits; for a single queen, Lasius niger with a starter kit. Colonies ship on Mondays and Tuesdays and come with a live arrival guarantee: if it arrives dead and you write to us within 48 hours of delivery with photos or video, we replace it or refund you.

How much does an anthill cost?

At AntMaster an anthill costs between €12.99 and €110.99 depending on size and material. For a queen: Starter 3D (€12.99) or Terra Starter V2 (€17.99), 5 × 9 cm. Small or medium colony: M 3D (€23.99) or Terra M V2 (€25.99), 11 × 11 cm; the Terra M holds 150 to 200 Messor barbarus workers. Growing colony: L 3D (€49.99) or Terra L V2 (€53.99), 22 × 11 cm; the Terra L, 200 to 500 Messor. Large colony: XL 3D (€99.99) or Terra XL V2 (€110.99), 23 × 23 cm; the Terra XL, 1,000 to 2,000 Messor. Kits with a foraging area range from €19.99 to €119.99, and native queens and colonies cost €0. Which anthill should I choose for the size of my colony?

For a queen or a foundation, the Terra Starter or Starter 3D (5 × 9 cm) is usually enough. Once you're into the first few dozen workers, the Terra M V2 or M 3D (11 × 11 cm) gives more room. For established medium or large colonies, the L and XL models offer more interior volume. In the Terra range, the product pages give guideline ranges: the Terra M holds 350 to 500 Lasius niger workers, 150 to 200 Messor barbarus or 30 to 50 Camponotus; the Terra L, 1,000 to 1,500, 200 to 500 or 80 to 100.

Which large anthill should I buy for an established colony?

The Terra XL V2 (23 × 23 cm with 25 mm of interior depth, €110.99) or the XL 3D (23 × 23 cm, €99.99). As a guide, the Terra XL holds 5,000 to 10,000 workers of small species such as Lasius niger, 1,000 to 2,000 Messor barbarus or 200 to 300 Camponotus. If it falls short, connect another module or an XL or XXL foraging area.

What's the difference between the Terra range and the 3D range?

The interior. Terra has an antifungal plaster interior, which spreads humidity from the water tower slowly and evenly and gives a porous surface with better grip for the ants: it's the usual choice for exotic species and for any species needing high, stable humidity. The 3D range has a PLA-printed interior sculpted in volume, with chambers and tunnels in relief. Both ranges are modular and share the same connections.

How do the modules connect to each other?

All AntMaster modules, both Terra and 3D, use the same leak-proof connection system, with gates and gate locks included. You can join two modules from different ranges or add a foraging area without dismantling the nest or moving the colony.

Does the anthill have a hydration system?

Yes, almost all of them. The Terra Starter, M, L and XL V2 have a water tower over antifungal plaster, with a dual system in the L and XL. The Terra M Evaporation model uses a 20 ml reservoir with a drinking point. The 3D models use the same water tower, but without plaster, so humidity changes faster. They also have a dual system in the L and XL. Only the Dry models have no built-in humidity, and that's by design. We explain this in more detail in the humidity systems guide linked above.

Can you see the ants clearly? Is it transparent?

Yes. The viewing side is high-transparency acrylic, and most models come with an opaque lid to keep the colony dark when you're not watching (each product page says so). They aren't all-acrylic anthills: the interior is plaster (Terra) or sculpted PLA (3D).

Can I expand a small anthill later on?

Yes. All AntMaster modules are compatible with each other, whether Terra or 3D, so you can start with a Starter or an M and add larger modules as the colony grows, without needing to move the ants.

Do you ship throughout Spain? How long does it take?

We ship from Cartagena (Murcia) to all of Spain, including the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, and to the European Union. We prepare orders within 1-5 business days, and delivery within Spain takes 2-5 days. Shipping is free on the Spanish mainland from €75; to the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla it costs €15 and we don't ship live animals there. You can also pick up your order in Cartagena, where it's usually ready within 24 hours. If you're not convinced, you have 30 days from receipt to return it unused and in its original packaging.
